Our races are "parties for the running community", but behind the scenes there is a quiet group of individuals that choose to not only participate, but to run for charity. These runners fund-raise and drive funds towards our current charity partners, Stonehill College - Camp Shriver. You can learn more about their organization below.
We also work with local non-profit organizations who help us staff our award-winning aid stations and courses, receiving valuable program funding for their various endeavors in exchange. It's a win for them, for our series, and for the greater running community!
Stonehill College - Camp Shriver
The 'Gansett team is excited to have a partnership with Stonehill College, the beautiful venue of the Narragansett Summer Running Festival. Runners can "RUN FOR STONEHILL" and support a truly wonderful educational institution and its missions.
Currently, funds that are raised by runners representing Stonehill College will be put towards Camp Shriver. Camp Shriver, a program of Stonehill College, is an inclusive summer recreational program for Brockton-area families, where 50% of the campers have an intellectual or developmental disability. The goal of Camp Shriver is to provide a safe, inclusive environment for our campers as they develop their social and athletic skills. At Camp Shriver, all children have an opportunity to learn and play—as equals. Donations will be put toward Camp Shriver’s greatest funding needs: (1) transportation so our campers can be safely picked up and dropped off at camp each day; (2) nutritious meals (breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided daily)—providing a healthy menu of food to fuel our campers as they play; and (3) sports equipment and art supplies used in inclusive instruction on the field, in the gym, at the pool and during creative time.
The 'Gansett Races: A commitment to build our active living community.
'Gansett Beer Races are managed by True North Running Company LLC, an organization with the mission of growing the active-living culture within our communities. By hosting fun, laid back events that attract new and elite runners alike, we aim to bring people together within the framework of endurance sports, and inspire more and more people to take on new distances and challenges.
We do this well, with over 40% of our race participants choosing to take on a given race distance for the first time. By creating gatherings of the running community that inspire new runners to take on bigger challenges, we're proud to be growing a sport that invites people live more active, balanced and healthy lives.
Cheers, and see you at the next 'Gansett race!
